Hands-on review: ZVEX Effects Fuzz Probe

Bought new at a local music store for $169.00 w/o case.

Amazingly good quality, playability and sound on the level with that of much higher priced models. Looks great, too!

Comes without a case. But then again, considering the price tag, you can well afford to buy a good one to go with it.

Top notch construction and finish. The major difference between ths Squire Tele and the USA Tele is the stringing. The Squire has a top-loading bridge while the American model has the traditional thru-the-body stringing. Most guitar snobs claim this is detrimental to tone. Absolutely not true. A comparison with a US '52 reissue Tele proved this point. BOTH had the same resonance and sustain. For example: do you know of ANY Les Pauls with thru-the-body stringing? Does anyone claim the Les Pauls have inferior tone because of this?

I've been playing guitar for close to 40 years and I can say without any doubt that the quality of this instrument is on par with any custom crafted guitar being made today. Being a retired professional, I've played a lot of highly-prized, way over-priced new and vintage guitars over the years (I even own one of them) and this Telecaster is now as valued by me as much as any of the others. The price is just the icing on the cake, as it were. Leo Fender's original concept with the Broadcaster/Telecaster in the early fifties was to mass-produce a good quality guitar for musicians so they could afford to buy it on their working-class salaries. This Squire fits that bill perfectly. Leo would be proud.
